RTX•El Segundo, CA
•$42,000 - $88,000•Onsite

About The Position

Raytheon Intelligence & Space is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Intern to support development, integration, and testing across space and airborne programs in El Segundo, California. The intern will work on EO/IR space hardware with junior and senior manufacturing and mechanical engineers, designing opto-mechanical systems using Creo and supporting assembly, integration, and testing in a laboratory environment. The role includes creating and revising opto-mechanical designs and drawings, generating assembly instructions, providing build support alongside technicians and other engineering disciplines, and applying design-for-producibility and manufacturability principles. The intern will present work for peer reviews and research component designs and materials to support mechanical assembly design and analysis. Detailed drawings incorporating GD&T are expected, along with collaboration across engineering and analysis teams on material selection, thermal management, precision mechanical mounting and motion, and structural optimization. The position also involves understanding change management and processing engineering changes in a product data management tool, including creating, reworking, and updating designs.

Requirements

  • Must be pursuing a bachelor's or advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related STEM major and remain actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
  • Must have a minimum of 60 credit hours by the start of the internship/co-op session.
  • Experience in the design and development of mechanical hardware.
  • Experience with commercial CAD software, such as Creo.
