About The Position

Zymo Research is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Intern to support the design and development of plastic sample collection devices within a product development environment. The role is intended for students or recent graduates pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field and provides hands-on experience in CAD design, prototyping, and cross-functional collaboration. The position is onsite at Zymo Research headquarters in Irvine, California. The estimated base compensation range is $20–$22 per hour. Actual compensation is determined by factors including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job-permitted factors. Requirements

Pursuing or recently completed a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Proficiency in CAD software.
Basic understanding of plastic part design principles.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

Exposure to injection-molded plastic design or rapid prototyping.
Experience in a product development or regulated environment.

Responsibilities

Create and modify 3D CAD models and drawings for plastic components using SolidWorks or similar tools.
Support plastic part design with consideration for manufacturability and assembly.
Assist with prototype development, evaluation, and design iteration.
Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to support development activities.
Maintain accurate design documentation in accordance with internal processes.
