About The Position

Novelis is offering an on-site summer 2027 internship at its Berea, Kentucky facility. The Mechanical Engineering Intern will join the team for approximately 12 weeks, gain hands-on industry experience, and participate in relevant engineering work. Reporting to the Engineering Leader, the intern will gain experience with project management, CAD design, and implementing tools and equipment, with a focus on the work management process.

Requirements

Be enrolled in an accredited four-year university.
Be a sophomore, junior, senior, or recent graduate.
Have an interest in gaining hands-on industry experience prior to graduation.
Have effective interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with all levels of the organization.
Be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer.

Nice To Haves

Major in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Reliability, Electrical, or Applied Engineering, or a related field.
Have solid business insight.
Have a strong interest in becoming an engineer in a manufacturing environment.
Have strong leadership and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

Develop improvements to general engineering processes.
Use CAD to design tools and equipment and, where possible, support their implementation.
Work with outside contractors to scope and specify new or improved equipment for plant operations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Process, Operations, and EHS, to develop protocols related to safety initiatives.
