About The Position

CMTA, a Legence company, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Intern/Co-op for Fall 2026 in their Energy Solutions division. This is an immersive, multi-semester co-op program designed for college students pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering. The program focuses on Guaranteed Energy Savings Performance Contracts (ESPCs), offering hands-on experience in facility upgrades, energy efficiency, and zero energy projects. Co-ops will collaborate with full-time engineers, work under the supervision of Professional Engineers, and gain experience in various stages of project development, from initial calculations to implementation. The program aims to develop students into full-time caliber employees and provides opportunities to work with photovoltaic systems, LED lighting designs, HVAC systems (like geothermal), and building automation systems. Requirements

Must be pursuing an undergrad degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited university
CAD experience is helpful but not required
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
Ability to work both independently and as a team member
Ability to travel locally for field work
Minimum GPA 3.39

Responsibilities

Assist in all aspects of the project development phase – including site visits, building audits, energy calculations
Generate energy models and perform calculations to evaluate feasibility of energy savings measures identified
Produce detailed construction documents using CAD
Assemble organized sets of project drawings and documents
Collect and analyze energy data, often involving field verification
Work collaboratively with designers and professional engineers to develop all aspects of a project
