About The Position

The Mechanical Engineer III will be responsible for the mechanical design of products that meet or exceed customer requirements and Company specifications. This role involves assessing and selecting appropriate materials and manufacturing processes to meet design criteria, environmental requirements, and target manufacturing costs. The position emphasizes on-time and on-budget project completion, adherence to military standard and AS9100 documentation requirements, and ensuring quality standards are met. The Mechanical Engineer III will also prepare technical reports and design review packages for customer approval and may be involved in creating product packaging concepts, analyzing mechanical designs for thermal and structural performance, coordinating with vendors, making technical presentations, developing cost-effective product designs, and mentoring junior engineering staff.

Requirements

  • US Citizen
  • At least 7 years experience as an engineer in a highly technical, R&D, and/or manufacturing environment or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
  • Systems integration experience.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Project, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks for 2D and 3D mechanical drawings preferred.
  • Experience designing flight and military-grade hardware is a plus
  • Thermal and structural analysis experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Create product packaging concepts that are attractive, ergonomic, functional and sophisticated.
  • Prepare detailed mechanical designs (3D) using SolidWorks including fabrication and assembly drawings.
  • Analyze mechanical designs for thermal and structural performance using SolidWorks.
  • Coordinate and manage selected vendors and ensure quality per specifications for mechanical components by performing or overseeing quality inspections and verifications.
  • Make technical presentations to existing and prospective clients.
  • Develop efficient and cost-effective, best-value type product designs.
  • Mentor junior engineering staff; share knowledge, experience and expertise through “Lessons Learned” presentations and other interactions.
  • Other activities as identified and assigned.
