About The Position

This role is for a Mechanical Engineer III with a minimum of 3+ years of manufacturing experience working with manufacturing equipment. The engineer will be expected to work hands-on with equipment using typical tools and instruments, understand process variables, and translate engineering solutions into designs. Collaboration with other disciplines and effective communication are key. Experience in a manufacturing or construction environment with a focus on safety is preferred.

Requirements

  • BS Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3+ years manufacturing experience working with manufacturing equipment.
  • Ability to work hands-on with the equipment using typical hand tools, instruments, and measurement/alignment devices.
  • Flexibility with the ability to manage multiple work streams in a team environment adjusting to changing priorities.
  • Strong focus on job site safety and proactive safety approach.
  • Process variable understanding: flow, temperature, rate, pressure, level.
  • Familiar with process piping system design, including P&IDs.
  • Thorough understanding of mechanical drive trains, electrical and pneumatic actuators.
  • Works well in a team environment, is a self-starter and results oriented.
  • Effective in various settings to provide and present necessary information to project, department, and site leaders.

Nice To Haves

  • Mechanical Equipment or software experience preferred: AutoCAD®, Inventor, Power Point, Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, and MS Project.
  • Experience working on a manufacturing floor or construction environment, with a strong focus on job site safety and proactive safety approach.
  • Displays a bias for action in situations of uncertainty, addresses issues and problems proactively.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Project management experience, including developing project scope, budgets and schedules.
  • Knowledge of the Optical Fiber manufacturing process.

Responsibilities

  • Work hands-on with manufacturing equipment using typical hand tools, instruments, and measurement/alignment devices.
  • Understand process variables such as flow, temperature, rate, pressure, and level.
  • Determine and recommend the best solution from a series of alternatives within plant guidelines.
  • Translate engineering solutions to requirements, then further to process and/or equipment designs that deliver required performance criteria.
  • Interpret drawings and schematics to aid in troubleshooting.
  • Work with other disciplines (IT, Mechanical, and Process engineering) to understand manufacturing system functionality and design requirements.
  • Design process piping systems, including P&IDs.
  • Understand mechanical drive trains, electrical and pneumatic actuators.
  • Provide and present necessary information to project, department, and site leaders.
  • Develop project scope, budgets, and schedules.
