This role is for a Mechanical Engineer II, generally responsible for performing all aspects of a complete design for complex mechanical engineering assignments. Work at this level requires extensive progressive experience in mechanical engineering and involves applying advanced engineering techniques and analysis. The position involves working under general supervision and collaborating with design leaders from other disciplines to ensure smooth information flow for project completion. The engineer will review vendor drawings and other discipline drawings for mechanical input, produce designs with efficient use of construction materials, and ensure the final product meets client expectations. Responsibilities include checking calculations made by other engineers, advising senior engineers on design or scope changes, assisting in developing "packages" for mechanical purchase inquiries, developing construction specifications, and reviewing fabrication drawings and other construction submittals. The role also involves performing fieldwork for data gathering, tie-in checks, and construction support, as well as providing technical guidance to less experienced personnel. The engineer must be knowledgeable of discipline-specific methods, practices, and techniques for engineering, designing, and constructing process and manufacturing projects, and must recognize and communicate scope and design changes promptly. Coordination with teammates and the discipline lead is essential, along with applying advanced engineering techniques and analysis to complex designs. Estimating and scheduling professional service hours, assessing progress and quality of mechanical work, and having a complete understanding of the skills and experience required for engineering and design functions are key. The ability to identify and develop work-sharing packages for interoffice execution support and provide leadership for communication and execution within scope, schedule, and budget is also required.
