Onsite

About The Position

Agiliti is a leading manufacturer and service provider of medical and surgical equipment, partnering with clinicians to ensure essential equipment is ready for patient care. This role offers the opportunity to work on meaningful medical products, engage in hands-on design, prototyping, and testing within a well-equipped engineering environment, and experience the full product lifecycle. You will collaborate with experienced engineers and cross-functional leaders, influence design decisions, contribute to innovation and IP development, and grow within a regulated, high-impact industry. Travel opportunities to manufacturing locations are available.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field required.
  • 3–5 years of experience designing products in the medical, consumer, automotive, or aerospace industry.
  • Exceptional 3D CAD skills; SolidWorks strongly preferred, including parametric and top‑down “master model”‑driven assemblies.
  • Experience with SolidWorks PDM or another PDM/PLM system.
  • Strong understanding of mass‑production manufacturing processes, including injection molding, blow molding, welded steel structures, sheet metal stamping and forming, die casting, and CNC technologies.
  • Hands‑on prototyping experience, including setting up and running tests.
  • Experience with structural analysis (FEA) and mechanical performance evaluation preferred.
  • Experience in DFM, DFA, DFMEA, or other risk‑based design strategies.
  • Familiarity with EE and embedded firmware disciplines preferred.
  • Experience designing for agency certifications (ISO, IEC, AAMI, UL, CE, CISPR, FCC, FDA); 60601 experience is a significant plus.
  • Prior experience interfacing with certification bodies (Intertek, UL, TÜV) preferred.
  • Experience working in Scrum or project‑management environments (Jira, Monday, Todoist, etc.).
  • Demonstrated financial acumen.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
  • A mechanically minded, hands‑on engineer who enjoys tinkering, building, and designing in their free time.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% (domestic and international).

Nice To Haves

  • Medical device experience ideal but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a technical lead on multiple complex, integrated mechanical design projects from kickoff through implementation.
  • Design, analyze, prototype, test, and troubleshoot mechanisms and cosmetic parts using advanced engineering design methods and best practices.
  • Develop and drive innovative design processes to ensure quality, cost, schedule, and performance goals are achieved.
  • Utilize tools and equipment such as 3D printers, lasers, manual and CNC mills to prototype parts and instruments, including test setups with strain gages.
  • Perform structural analysis and evaluate dynamic mechanical performance; plastics experience strongly preferred.
  • Oversee development of prototypes and fabrication of working electromechanical mockups.
  • Support manufacturing, quality, regulatory, and sales teams as needed, including travel to Hayes when required.
  • Interface with manufacturing partners during design transfer and transition to mass production.
  • Design and review manufacturing test fixtures and procedures; review and approve initial production samples.
  • Analyze and test field returns to determine root cause and implement corrective actions.
  • Contribute to product risk analysis, usability, verification, validation, and certification testing efforts.
  • Identify and escalate technical risks and collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues.
  • Lead and participate in design reviews and project update presentations, creating clear visual and technical materials.
  • Continuously research and propose innovative technologies, materials, and processes.
