About The Position

We are searching for a Mechanical Engineer II – Sustainment to join our GAL Manufacturing Engineering team at Vantage Elevation. You’ll play a hands-on role in supporting the full product lifecycle, including design changes, testing, validation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of mechanical hardware and components for elevator systems. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline from an accredited institution
2–4 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience, preferably within a product development, manufacturing, or industrial environment
Experience designing mechanical components and assemblies from concept through testing and production implementation
Proficiency with 3D CAD software, with Autodesk Inventor experience considered a plus, and experience preparing detailed 2D engineering drawings
Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), engineering drawings, and mechanical design standards
Understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Lean manufacturing principles
Experience with engineering calculations, tolerance analysis, material selection, and mechanical component design
Knowledge of manufacturing processes including machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding, casting, and/or assembly
Experience developing and executing product testing and validation plans
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis
Ability to interpret and apply technical standards, codes, specifications, and regulatory requirements
Strong technical documentation skills, including engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials (BOMs), and engineering change documentation
Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and other functional teams
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a deadline-driven environment
Ability and willingness to develop a thorough understanding of elevator systems, applicable elevator codes, and certification requirements

Nice To Haves

Experience in the elevator industry or with electro-mechanical equipment
Basic knowledge of electrical design concepts
Knowledge of Vault document management and ERP systems, including an understanding of Engineering Masters, work orders, and related processes

Responsibilities

Initiating and supporting engineering change processes, including the preparation and implementation of Product Change Orders (PCOs), Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), and related documentation
Designing, improving, testing, and validating mechanical components, assemblies, and hardware for elevator systems
Creating and maintaining engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials (BOMs), and other technical documentation
Developing mechanical designs using 3D CAD software and ensuring designs meet functional, performance, quality, and manufacturability requirements
Applying Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Lean principles throughout the product development and sustainment process
Performing engineering calculations, tolerance stack analysis, and cost analysis to support design decisions and manufacturability
Developing prototypes, coordinating testing, analyzing results, and recommending design improvements
Supporting product improvement activities from initial concept and design through validation, certification, and production implementation
Ensuring designs comply with applicable elevator codes, safety standards, regulatory requirements, and product certification requirements
Providing technical and engineering support to manufacturing facilities, including troubleshooting production issues and identifying appropriate corrective actions
Investigating product and component failures, performing root cause analysis, and developing corrective and preventive solutions
Identifying opportunities to improve product quality, reliability, manufacturability, cost, and overall performance
Evaluating existing products and designs and recommending modifications to improve functionality, simplify manufacturing, or address obsolescence
Collaborating with suppliers and manufacturing partners on technical requirements, component specifications, quality concerns, and design changes
Working cross-functionally with Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Purchasing, and other teams throughout the product lifecycle
Supporting product lines through design changes, reverse engineering, component validations, document releases, and obsolescence activities
Working with Quality, Purchasing, and Manufacturing to support continued production in cases of non-conformity, supplier shortages, and other issues
Reviewing updated drawings for accuracy and maintaining current engineering records and product documentation
Supporting ERP accuracy and integrity
Organizing and leading cross-functional meetings as part of sustainment activities
Performing other engineering-related duties and projects as assigned
