About The Position

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer II role as a key technical advisor supporting product testing, designing, and fabrication of fixtures, tooling, mechanical and electromechanical systems, and equipment. This member of the team serves as a resource to existing internal and external customers. Training and resolution of complex issues and projects are desired focuses of the role.

Requirements

  • B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 3-5 years of working laboratory experience in the mechanical engineering field.
  • Solid understanding of fundamentals of physics and mechanics.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as protocols, industry specifications, and procedures.
  • Possess a strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, SolidWorks, and general computer literacy.
  • Advanced Math, analysis, and computation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Primary focus is to research and design, procure, implement, and maintain all mechanical and electromechanical systems.
  • Function as a mechanical engineer knowledge share supporting the sales, facilities, and production functions.
  • Investigate complex solutions and manage projects in various implementations on all Mechanical Systems related items (plumbing, electrical, and structural).
  • Design and Lead fabrication (internal or external) of test fixtures while assuring proper design documentation and customer agreements for disposal or retention).
  • Drive qualification of test fixtures and internal/customer acceptance.
  • Provide training as needed for new test fixtures, equipment, tooling, or mechanical system.
  • Lead efforts to support Equipment from installation, preventative maintenance and repairs, upgrades, and validation.
  • Research and manage efforts with modeling, designing, and fabrication of specialized equipment, fixtures, and mechanical systems.
  • Utilize mechanical working knowledge for practical facilities and equipment utilization.
  • Support production and engineering by conducting various assigned client testing.
  • Design custom test fixtures (ensure conformance to industry, client, and internal specifications).
  • Responsible for performing backup calibration functions for the WESTPAK site with applicable functions such as Uncertainty of Measurement.
  • Ensure WESTPAK’s Quality Management System (QMS), including calibration procedures, is held to the highest standards with a focus on continual improvement.
  • Maintain and continually improve the existing calibration program, including the uncertainty of the measurement program.
  • Able to speak with customers and field calibration and validation questions where required.
  • Teach and mentor other mechanical engineers by providing knowledge and training development.
