About The Position

Raytheon has an opportunity for an energetic and motivated Mechanical Engineer within the Airborne Sensor RF Design department, allowing for broad exposure to Raytheon’s technology, tools, and resources. This department within the Hardware Engineering organization is seeking support with radio-frequency mechanical packaging development and production support for multiple airborne and space vehicles. In this role, the engineer will be required to frequently collaborate with engineers of various disciplines to ensure support of program and factory requirements. The ideal candidate should have strong academic credentials and experience in working in a teamwork environment, having not only academic, but also interpersonal skills to help optimize our teams. Additionally, the candidate should possess an inquisitive nature and a strong desire to learn real-world applications to complement their academic experience.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years’ prior relevant experience, to include any combination of the following:
  • Experience with the design, manufacturing, and integration of mechanical assemblies, electronics packaging, and/or test equipment for military and/or aerospace applications
  • Experience with GD&T and ASME drawing standards
  • Experience with PTC CREO Parametric or other mechanical CAD design tools
  • Experience with creating and delivering presentations
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Active and existing security clearance required after day 1

Nice To Haves

  • An existing Secret or Top Secret security clearance
  • Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) design and layout collaboration experience
  • Knowledge of electromechanical assemblies and the interrelationship of the components therein
  • Knowledge of materials and fabrication methods
  • Knowledge of mechanical fabrication and assembly drawings
  • Experience with production support including the use of basic measurement tools
  • Knowledge of environmental testing and validation

Responsibilities

  • Support existing Airborne Radar production programs in maintaining high quality and on time delivery to our warfighters at our manufacturing facility in McKinney, TX.
  • Perform root cause investigations and develop quick-turn technical solutions.
  • Evaluate and resolve obsolescence issues through analysis, validation testing, and implementation.
  • Engage with suppliers on quality issues and corrective actions.
  • Travel periodically to external suppliers and other Raytheon facilities. Travel typically does not exceed 10%.
  • Follow established procedures and instructions while working closely with leadership and supply chain to ensure that overall design objectives are met.
  • Perform mechanical design and documentation of electro-mechanical assemblies using PTC Creo Parametric and application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles.
  • Work with a multi-disciplined team of engineers on mechanical housing design, electronics equipment packaging, circuit card assemblies, interconnects, and thermal management.
  • Create and deliver presentations with clear and concise technical content.
