About The Position

Supports the development and documentation of mechanical systems. Supports the development, maintenance, or modification of system designs. Performs detail design development and modification of mechanical system installations. Supports team in performing spatial integration at system or component level and modification of mechanisms. Prepares technical documents for mechanical components and systems. The candidate should have an educational background showing work with analysis and design of mechanical devices and subsystems. Extracurricular activities at school and/or in personal life which emphasize these disciplines will also be considered. This position involves Design and Analysis with an emphasis on pneumatic, mechanical, and electro-mechanical components/assemblies, preferably for use in military or commercial aviation. The ideal candidate will have some relevant experience in mechanisms which may include linkages, levers, pneumatic devices, solenoid, and motor operators.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or master's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Ability to show coursework and/or experience in design/manufacturing/analysis/development of mechanical and/or electro-mechanical devices.
  • The candidate should have a basic knowledge of manufacture of mechanical components.
  • Must be able to demonstrate basic knowledge and experience in creation of design concepts using hand sketches, and CAD tools.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing techniques, their capabilities, strengths, and weaknesses.
  • Must be able to perform basic measurements and simple inspection processes.
  • Knowledge of GD&T Geometric Dimension & Tolerancing.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Must be able to write engineering reports, typically to document analysis and test results.
  • Able to problem solve a variety of technical problems.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products is essential.
  • Proof of Education is required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs

Nice To Haves

  • CAD experience in CATIA V5 (preferred), and/or SolidWorks is a plus.
  • Prior assembly or shop experience is a plus.
  • Evidence of accomplishment in self-documentation of work product through technical reports, test reports etc. will be considered as a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Research of technical, operational, and quality issues that cannot be resolved by the customer
  • Assessing and resolving product/process issues through the product lifecycle
  • Working with and possibly directing cross-functional teams to conduct root cause analysis and develop dispositions for complex design non-conformances
  • Conducts detailed design work, assembly layout and the creation of drawings & solid models in CATIA V5 and/or providing analysis of interim and final engineering solutions
  • Oversees documentation of hardware related issues
  • Supports the development, maintenance or modification of system, component, and installation designs
  • Perform and document analyses to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications
  • Contributes to supplier development, test and production activities and directs the supplier to optimize integration and achieve program goals
  • Supports operations with ongoing technical support of products in production.
  • Designs and reviews layouts of components, calculates stack-up of detail components, and all supporting documentation, when necessary, to facilitate operations and ensure that established objectives and budgets are achieved.
