About The Position

Grace Company is seeking to add a mechanical engineer I to our Engineering Team. This individual will design, develop, analyze, and implement mechanical components and systems related to sewing and quilting products. They will conduct research to solve specific design problems; develop preliminary sketches, models, layouts, and assembly drawings; and help design and test prototypes. This individual must have the ability to visualize/conceptualize an idea and be able to develop that concept into a 3-D model. They must be a detail-oriented individual with an interest in technical communication, eager to contribute to high-quality engineering products. This position is on-site only. No remote work is available.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Certified as a SolidWorks Associate or equivalent experience.
  • Familiar with technical writing and documentation tools (e.g. Microsoft Word, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign).
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to producing error-free work.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey complex technical information clearly.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and incorporate feedback effectively.
  • 0 – 3 years of experience as a mechanical engineer.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement new products based on project scopes and timelines.
  • Make design updates and improvements to existing products.
  • Build prototypes and test products to verify design concepts.
  • Set up tests on machines to verify calculations, analyze long term results, and improve designs to increase product life.
  • Design and test fixtures to use in quality control process.
  • Perform calculations for machine/product loads and system dynamics.
  • Define acceptable product criteria for new and existing products.
  • Create production documentation for new products.
  • Develop preliminary sketches or schematics, layouts, and assembly drawings.
  • Create/maintain quality control documents for new and existing products.
  • Communicate with Technical Writing, Sales, Marketing, and Tech Support about specific design details and product use.
