Mechanical Engineer I

Nesco Resource•Streetsboro, OH

About The Position

The Mechanical Engineer I creates and modifies designs for parts and machine assemblies, using Pro-E Creo as the primary design software. The role analyzes proposed design changes and their effects on documentation, part relationships, form, fit, function, and manufacturability. It works with cross-functional project teams and contributes design concepts while incorporating input from operations and engineering colleagues. The position processes pre-release and conversion engineering change requests and notices, maintains accurate design documentation and configuration management, and updates assemblies, bills of materials, specification sheets, and product data management records. It also checks engineering change notices and drawings, troubleshoots machinery functional and reliability issues, supports existing product lines, and maintains standard Pro/Engineer design configurations and part libraries for CAD users.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technology field and 1–2 years of direct experience, or an associate degree in a technology field and several years of direct experience with demonstrated ability to design parts and subassemblies for mechanical systems.
  • Working knowledge of engineering mathematics, strength of materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency in a 3D CAD system, preferably ProE Creo.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and demonstrated troubleshooting ability.
  • Familiarity with BOM creation and documentation in an ERP system.
  • Collaborative approach, including soliciting others' opinions to develop the best solution.
  • Team-player attitude and positive approach.
  • Initiative and dependability.
  • Effective one-to-one, group, and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Create and modify designs for parts and machine assemblies using Pro-E Creo.
  • Analyze design changes and coordinate updates to affected documentation, evaluating form, fit, function, part relationships, and design for manufacturability.
  • Work with cross-functional project teams to create, modify, and detail machine components, bills of materials, and assemblies.
  • Collaborate with operations and engineering team members and contribute design concepts and ideas.
  • Process engineering change requests and notices for pre-release and conversion engineering support; maintain current documentation and configuration management.
  • Create and modify detailed assemblies, bills of materials, and specification sheets, and update the product data management system.
  • Check engineering change notices and drawings to support the change process.
  • Resolve machinery functional and reliability problems to initiate process, quality, and safety improvements.
  • Provide product-line support by addressing and resolving problems with existing products, including process engineering work when necessary.
  • Establish and maintain standard Pro/Engineer design configurations and part libraries for CAD users to improve efficiency and reduce documentation errors.
