About The Position

The department is seeking motivated and driven mechanical engineers with technical expertise and experience in hardware design, analysis, integration and production support. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be a member of a multi-disciplinary Integrated Program Team (IPT) consisting of System, Hardware and Software Engineers. Your work can support development of next generation systems, design enhancements, upgrades for existing products, and transition to production efforts. Product areas can include circuit card assemblies, electronic packages, and reflector-type antennas for communications systems. This position can be based in either Marlborough, MA or Largo, FL.

Requirements

Requires a Bachelor’s degree and 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships).
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Nice To Haves

Experience with design, fabrication, and integration of electronic assemblies, circuit card assemblies, structural components, equipment packaging and layout, and military defense systems
CREO CAD system experience and PDM or similar product data management tools
Previous experience with structural and/or thermal analysis using ANSYS, Flotherm and/or other analytical tools
Demonstrated hands-on mechanical aptitude
Prior defense industry experience, designing and solving problems for high reliability systems operating within harsh military environments
Working knowledge of military and commercial design, materials, and process specifications
Experience diagnosing and resolving hardware issues during prototyping, production and test
ACTIVE Secret Security Clearance or HIGHER
Advanced degree in mechanical engineering
Previous experience designing and developing hardware, with some exposure to the different phases of product development (concept design, detailed design, production, product support)
Background in mechanical design, product development, material selection, and manufacturing processes
Experience with CAD design tools and associated product data management tools
Experience solving technically challenging problems within aggressive timelines

Responsibilities

Perform mechanical design, development, analysis and documentation of components and assemblies in accordance with system requirements
Provide support to production and suppliers during product integration
Interface with the broader organization to develop design solutions and resolve technical challenges. This can include engineering managers, engineers, designers, and structural/thermal analysts, other disciplines, program management, suppliers, and external customers
Support the hardware team in meeting commitments for assigned schedule, financial, and technical goals
Support and participate in reviews and conduct trade studies to make sound technical decisions
Apply knowledge and experience in technical problem solving and hardware development in a fast paced, team environment
