About The Position

The Mechanical/Aerospace Engineer I will work in the Engines and MEMS Sensors design team supporting existing products and developing highly reliable products which meet customer specified requirements and expectations at the lowest competitive cost. This engineer will be a highly motivated self-starter, providing support over failure investigations, collaborating to drive product improvements, and leading their own projects including schedule and cost management. Moreover, the Engineer I will be expected to represent the organization as prime customer contact on existing products and new designs, including making presentations to customers. On this position, you will be a part of cutting edge multidisciplinary product development. You will learn the aerospace design standards and requirements, multiple aerospace product lines and their place in the aviation systems, including commercial and defense applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical or Materials Engineering is required
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

  • Experience managing compliance demonstration to customer or regulatory requirements
  • Experience preparing and delivering design or project review presentations
  • Experience writing test procedures, coordinating testing, and writing the test reports.

Responsibilities

  • Generate design concepts in conformance with requirements and ensure that adequate trade studies and analyses are performed to arrive at optimum design configurations.
  • Support existing designs with failure investigations, product improvements, and documentation updates.
  • Provide MRB (Material Review Board) support and disposition nonconforming product.
  • Prepare and present stage gate design reviews both internally and externally to customers.
  • Review and understand product specifications and determine design requirements and scope of work.
  • Perform tolerance analyses on components and assemblies to ensure proper fit/function.
  • Utilize CAD solid modeling techniques to prepare component and assembly models and drawings.
  • Recommend materials including high temperature, corrosion, and oxidation resistant alloys
  • Recommend material joining methods and specifications for processes such as welding and brazing
  • Support multi-discipline teams during root cause investigations.
  • Generate initial estimates of effort and duration for tasks.
  • Support bids and proposals for new engine sensors.
  • Support schedule generation, tracking, and maintenance.
  • Requirements management and convergence planning.
  • Utilize the company configuration control system to process engineering change orders.
  • Writing test requests, supporting design verification testing, and coordinating with test department.
  • Provide necessary engineering support for new hardware coordination and fabrication.
  • Interface with all other functional groups and departments as required in the development of the product design.
  • Work with the Global Engineering Centers.
  • Use appropriate Lean Product Development tools to support cost-effective technical solutions with a focus on platform design, reuse, and knowledge management.
