About The Position

The Mechanical Engineer I will join the Airborne Sensor RF Design department supporting mechanical design activities for airborne RF sensor hardware. This role focuses on mechanical packaging, layout, and integration of RF electronics and assemblies. The selected candidate will apply CAD modeling, GD&T, and engineering fundamentals to develop high‑quality mechanical designs within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM field
  • Experience in CAD modeling tools (CREO Parametric preferred).
  • Engineering project, internship, research, coursework, or hands-on project experience.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Active and existing security clearance required after day 1

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to apply engineering principles to technical problem‑solving.
  • Experience with Windchill or other PLM systems.
  • Understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T fundamentals per ASME Y14.5.
  • Relevant co‑op/internship in mechanical design, defense, or aerospace.
  • Exposure to tolerance analysis or mechanical FEA (coursework acceptable).
  • Hands-on experience with prototypes, lab hardware, or fabrication tools.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop 3D CAD models and detailed mechanical designs using CREO.
  • Create engineering drawings, apply correct GD&T, and ensure configuration accuracy in Windchill.
  • Support packaging, layout, and integration of electronic and mechanical subassemblies.
  • Perform tolerance studies and basic structural considerations under guidance from senior engineers.
  • Participate in hardware builds, design reviews, peer reviews, and product improvements.
  • Support failure investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including EE, systems, manufacturing, and test engineering.
  • Document work per program standards.
