About The Position

The Gill Corporation is one of the world's largest manufacturers of honeycomb, high performance floor panels, cargo compartment liners and original equipment for passenger and freighter aircraft. The company also excels in many other types of reinforced plastics including interior sandwich panels for creating structures such as aircraft galleys and bulkheads, honeycomb core and related products. The Gill Corporation is seeking a Mechanical Engineer I who researches, plans, and designs mechanical and electromechanical products, systems and projects. Directs and coordinates activities involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of these products, systems and projects. Reporting to the Engineering Group Leader, they will perform but not be limited to the following responsibilities.

Requirements

  • BSME from an accredited university.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience with emphasis on design and fabrication of mechanical and electromechanical equipment and systems.
  • Experience with PID loop controllers, PLC’s and other plant control and monitoring equipment a must.
  • AutoCAD and Microsoft Office fluency also required.
  • Familiarity with standard engineering equations and calculations.
  • This position requires access to information that is subject to compliance with the International Traffic Arms Regulations (“ITAR”) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (“EAR”). In order to comply with the requirements of the ITAR and/or the EAR, applicants will be asked to provide specific documentation to verify U.S. person status under the ITAR and the EAR. Responsibilities

  • Researches and analyzes data, design proposals and specifications to determine feasibility of design or application.
  • Designs products or systems such as instruments, controls, robots, machines, mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, or heat transfer systems and systems to interface machines, hardware, and software.
  • Directs and coordinates fabrication and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and specifications.
  • Coordinates operation, maintenance, and repair activities to obtain optimum utilization of machines and equipment.
  • Evaluates existing installations and recommends design modifications to improve equipment performance and eliminate machine or system malfunctions.
  • Oversees contractors and personnel related to fabrication, installation and maintenance activities for assigned projects.
