About The Position

As a Mechanical Engineer – Heavy Duty Diesel Pistons Operations reporting to the Head of Heavy-Duty Diesel Productions, you will be responsible for developing and testing machinery and equipment under the direction of engineering and scientific staff. This role is responsible for developing and writing task analysis, cost analysis, and proposals for the implementation of new processes or improvements to existing processes. You will select or design parts and tooling to meet customer specifications and expectations, and work closely with line personnel to ensure newly developed parts and tooling are correctly installed and functioning properly. You will confer with established personnel to implement standard operating procedures and resolve system malfunctions. Additionally, you will develop, plan, and model alternate processing methods to test the feasibility of new applications of system components, and recommend implementation of improved procedures, process improvements, and/or set-up reduction techniques. You will develop and conduct related equipment training programs and demonstrate skills to trainees, serving as a mentor or coach to established personnel. You will prepare charts, graphs, and diagrams to illustrate workflow, routing, floor layouts, material handling, and machine utilization. You will develop management systems for cost analysis, financial planning, wage and salary administration, and job evaluation, and perform equipment and facilities layouts. You will develop CNC programs for various machine tools and optimize machining and other manufacturing processes. You will perform other assignments as instructed by Department Management. You will review project instructions and drawings to ascertain specifications, procedures, objectives, measuring equipment, nature of technical problems, and possible solutions such as part redesign, substitution of material or parts, or rearrangement of parts or subassemblies. You will complete engineering drawing(s) for part fabrication by internal or external vendors. You will devise, fabricate, and assemble new or modified mechanical components or assemblies for products such as industrial equipment and machinery, power equipment, servo systems, machine tools, and measuring instruments. You will set up and conduct tests of complete units and components under operational conditions to investigate design proposals for improving equipment performance or other factors, or to obtain data for development, standardization, and quality control. You will analyze indicated and calculated test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives and modify or adjust equipment to meet specifications. You will record test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and recommendations for changes in product or test method. You will maintain work instructions and procedures as required to assure uniformity and consistency in manufacturing activities, and ensure that all necessary documents (work plans and process control plans) are maintained and made available to appropriate departmental personnel as needed. You will establish and implement "root cause and corrective action" measures for nonconforming parts. You will work with Industrial Engineers in the development of FMEA's to identify potential problem areas in the production of parts. You will act as customer/QA contact for quality-related issues when required. You will oversee the serialization documentation for prototype parts and be involved in all aspects of project planning. You will monitor the function, cycle time, and other pertinent parameters of production equipment and recommend and/or initiate corrective action for problems identified on production equipment. You will design and order fixturing for production and prototype parts as needed. You will work with Industrial Engineers in the creation and optimization of CNC programs for the manufacture of production and prototype parts. You will identify and/or develop new tooling for production parts to reduce cycle time, production costs, and/or operator problems, and determine proper tooling for the production of prototype parts. You will provide technical support for other departments (Design) regarding production issues. You will develop/optimize process flow to increase efficiency of operation and prepare reports concerning departmental activities as required. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word applications software is necessary for this position holder. Auto Cad drafting knowledge is necessary.
