We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer – Entry Level. This position is a great opportunity located in Panama City, FL. Battelle's Defense & Material Solutions division is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the technical team in the execution of Research, Development, Test & Evaluation (RDT&E) efforts in Advanced Energy & Utilities. This position supports the Air Force Civil Engineer Center and is located on-site at Tyndall Air Force Base, near Panama City, FL. The successful candidate will support efforts in existing and emerging technical areas related to U.S. Air Force Civil Engineering requirements, with a focus on expeditionary energy technologies. Active areas of research include, but are not limited to, Expeditionary Shelter Technologies, Renewable Energy, expeditionary electrical and power production (including power load management), and Energy Storage Technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent field; or a Master's degree in a relevant field with 0–2 years of experience related to research and development programs
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office applications
  • Proactive, self-motivated professional with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance

Responsibilities

  • Performing RDT&E of moderate complexity, including compiling technical specifications, analyzing technical data, determining appropriate analysis methods, identifying problems, and developing and implementing solutions
  • Designing, planning, and executing energy and utility experiments
  • Developing test plans and experimentation protocols and conducting technology assessment studies
  • Constructing and assembling experimental systems, including data acquisition systems, instrument and equipment control, and wiring of various laboratory-scale devices and systems
  • Presenting research results and preparing technical reports, publications, and presentations
  • Managing the ordering, receipt, and inventory of purchases, shipments, and equipment
  • Tracking and maintaining inventory of laboratory supplies and parts
  • Assisting with equipment management and inventory processes
