Requirements

  • Two years as a Mechanical Engineer 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) ; or Four years of professional mechanical engineering experience which required work on any structural mechanical system.
  • Possession of a Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions.
  • Pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Complete design data, specifications, and computer aided drafting (CAD) drawings for construction projects in line with codes and engineering standards
  • Conduct site surveys, gather data, and prepare reports with observations, recommendations, and cost estimates
  • Coordinate design efforts with staff, professionals, and code officials to ensure strong communication and compliance
  • Review and approve mechanical drawings, calculations, estimates, and contractor submissions
  • Provide engineering advice, solve complex mechanical issues, and support maintenance teams with mechanical training
  • Perform site inspections to evaluate construction progress, adherence to design, and overall acceptability of project work
