About The Position

Torch Technologies is seeking a Mechanical Engineer 3 to join a team supporting design efforts for multiple platforms including aviation, ground, and weapon systems. This position supports the design and evaluation of complex mechanical and electro-mechanical systems, subsystems, and components, while interfacing with other members of the design team and government customers to ensure program success. The selected candidate will also support preparation of design specification, analyses, and recommendations for presentation in any project technical interchanges/preliminary design reviews/critical design reviews/fabrication readiness reviews/physical configuration audits. As a Mechanical Engineer 3 your duties will include the following, but are not limited to: Develop efficient, cost-effective, and functional mechanical designs using tools such as SolidWorks, CREO SolidWorks Simulation, etc. Lead other mechanical engineers and oversee design process for specific programs. Develop, up to and including, Level III technical data packages for novel mechanical and/or electromechanical designs. Provide mechanical engineering support in potential re-engineering tasks and support modification work orders and/or engineering change proposals. Generation of engineering reports to support engineering analysis to include finite element analyses for structural, thermal, vibration, flow, and multi-physics models. Contribute to proposal efforts as needed to build customer base.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
  • A minimum of 5 years related experience.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks CAD design and analysis software.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance is required.
  • Previous technical leadership experience.
  • Experience relating to system of systems design.
  • Experience with complex structural assemblies / weldments.
  • Experience with electromechanical systems
  • Experience with designing MIL-STD compliant systems and components and/or modifications to existing DoD systems

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency with SolidWorks Simulation, NASTRAN, ANSYS, or comparable Finite Element Analysis software.
  • Experience with hydraulic system design
  • Experience with power systems design
  • Background working with Enterprise Product Data Management tool.
  • Background with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing in accordance with ASME Y14.5-2009.
  • Experience working and designing with composite materials as well as an additive manufacturing background would be a plus.
