As a member of the Spark Ignited Gas Engine Performance team within LPSD, the successful candidate will be working in a fast paced environment to develop a engine system for use in applications such as Electric Power, Gas Compression, Marine, Petroleum and other Spark Ignited applications. The engineer will be responsible for ensuring that the engine system meets program requirements with respect to performance and controls, emissions and software. They will be required to use simulation, analysis, and engineering judgment to meet program deliverables. This involves working to develop performance requirements to meet program deliverables, and ensuring that performance and controls algorithms are capable of meeting those requirements. This includes combustion and system level simulation using GT-Power, engine performance development mapping in a performance cell and validation that final software is capable of meeting program deliverables from both a performance and emissions standpoint. Support of field follow engines is also required to ensure that the product is meeting the customers requirements in a field setting. The individual must be able to work as part of a team, and coordinate with controls experts, aftertreatment specialists, design engineers, program managers, and many others in a fast paced development and validation environment. They must have a systems engineering focus, and be motivated to meet/exceed customer expectations. A strong understanding of spark ignited combustion and system interactions is desired.
