About The Position

CDM Smith is seeking a Mechanical Engineer 1 to join our Maitland office in 2027! This is an exciting opportunity for an early career engineer to work alongside industry-leading professionals on complex and meaningful projects. As a member of our Mechanical Engineering team, you will contribute to the planning, design, and delivery of innovative building and infrastructure solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Architectural or Chemical Engineering, or in Engineering Technology or related discipline.
• 0 years of experience.
• Basic Knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices.
• Basic Knowledge of engineer principles of design.
• Knowledge of Microsoft business software (excel, word, etc.).
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Under direct supervision, creates engineering designs including: HVAC systems master planning & studies; HVAC & Plumbing systems; mechanical systems (co-generation); sustainability/energy efficiency/renewable energy/green buildings; etc. of basic complexity to meet client project requirements.
• Reviews draft designs for compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
• Ensures that firm policies and practices are followed on all designs.
• Performs site reviews and studies, as needed, to ensure designs are aligned with location specifications.
• Updates design requirements as necessary.
• Contributes to firm's TKM by developing white papers and technical design documentation of new or special case designs, studies, etc.
• Submits technical papers and designs for publishing to technical journals.
• Performs other duties as required.
• May create or work with a team to create a poster or other presentation material for a conference.
