This role involves engineering mechanical designs pertaining to mold product designs, fixturing, and processes. The engineer will interpret information from sales orders through design, including the use of standard products, data management for mold design concepts, component drawings, assembly drawings, item masters, part specifications, and bills of materials necessary for manufacturing. The position also utilizes reverse engineering tactics and procedures in mold design, leads other engineering technicians and drafters in best practices, and maintains organizational and departmental KPI/PCDA processes.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Solid Modeling Engineering CAD Program (Inventor).
  • Knowledge of 3D scanning & manipulating software - Surface Model CAD (i.e. Geomagic).
  • Knowledge of Equipment Operation Digital/Laser Scanner.
  • Computer and Technical Skills.
  • Organizational, Interpersonal communication, and Problem-Solving skills.
  • Analytical skills.
  • Project/Process Management skills.
  • Written and Oral Communication skills.
  • Clerical/Secretarial Abilities.
  • Excellent ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Associates, Vocational or Tech School degree in technical field required.
  • 1 - 3 years of professional experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors Degree in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent of 5 years of industry experience; preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs advanced 3D modeling and design in primary CAD program to create a functional part of visual recognition of form, fit and function.
  • Designs detailed components, drafting, and parts assemblies to create manufacturing drawings.
  • Fluent in secondary CAD programs used for digital scanning, surface file creation and concrete unit product development.
  • Creates Product Structures and Item Masters.
  • Serves in a team leadership role providing expert support and mentoring and checks other’s work.
  • Develops and innovates processes and/or designs to reduce cost and on-time delivery.
  • Completes Engineering Change Orders and Drawing Change Notices.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed in a timely fashion and being willing to attempt new assignments or fill in for others as needed; accomplishes other duties as assigned.
  • Provides technical expertise for manufacturing, sales, and other internal customers.
  • Obtains CAD Systems certification annually.
  • Participates in Continuous Improvement efforts.
