About The Position

As a Mechanical Technician, you will be required to perform routine predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance and repairs for conveyor equipment, production equipment, and support facility operations to minimize downtime. As an Electrical Technician, you will be required to perform routine calibration, preventive maintenance, and repairs to facility equipment, production equipment, and utilities to support facility operations. This role involves troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining mechanical and electrical equipment, including controls, instruments, and electronic components. You will also be responsible for monitoring equipment, collecting operational data, and assisting engineers in diagnostic analysis. The position requires the ability to read schematics, develop operating procedures, and train other employees. Adherence to food safety regulations, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP, and Food Defense, is critical. You will also be responsible for the proper use of maintenance chemicals, maintaining MSDS information, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards (OSHA, USDA/APHIS, FDA, etc.). The role may require overtime, weekends, holidays, and varying shifts.

Requirements

  • High School diploma, technical school and/or military training and experience in relevant field (Electrical Tech, Industrial Maintenance, plumbing etc.)
  • 3-5 years of manufacturing or facility work performing mechanical predictive and corrective maintenance, and performing instrumentation & calibration troubleshooting, mechanical-electrical assemblies.
  • Understanding of basic machine operations and maintenance items.
  • Understanding of historical data and equipment forecasting
  • Strong experience reading blueprints and understanding wiring schematics (required)
  • Experience troubleshooting VDF/VDF-driven motors/MCC's. 480 V Electrical Systems.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills for fixing maintenance issues (Electrical-Mechanical issues)

Responsibilities

  • Operate, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain all mechanical and electrical equipment as required.
  • Troubleshoot problems in the event of equipment failure and recommend parts or solutions for effective repairs (mechanical and/or electrical).
  • Set up, calibrate, test, measure, and repair all types of electrical controls, instruments, and electronic components.
  • Perform mechanical repairs in production equipment.
  • Monitor and maintain conveyors, mechanical equipment, controls, and electrical equipment to ensure effective and efficient service.
  • Work with sanitation crews, guards, catch pans, and related items.
  • Collect equipment operation history and data to facilitate reliability improvements.
  • Take corrective action with people, parts, and tools to minimize downtime.
  • Take preventative action with equipment to prolong life.
  • Use predictive maintenance and historical equipment data to understand and forecast equipment maintenance, replacement, and performance.
  • Assist facility technicians and engineers in troubleshooting and diagnostic analysis.
  • Utilize instruments, electronic schematics, and basic facility tools as needed.
  • Read, write, and assess drawings and mathematical formulas to determine equipment problems.
  • Maintain and control work order system and spare parts inventory.
  • Develop operating procedures for facility equipment to ensure consistent and safe operation.
  • Train and develop other employees in performing preventive maintenance and routine equipment service activities.
  • Follow all instructions related to Food Defense, Good Manufacturing Practices, and HACCP program.
  • Report any problem or irregular situation related to food safety to the Food Safety Department or direct supervisor.
  • Responsible for proper use of all mixing chemicals used in the maintenance process, cleaning/sanitation procedure.
  • Maintain logs and documents related to food safety. Keep all MSDS information for the product that they use.
  • Perform any operational activities and/or special task and project as required.
  • Comply with and ensure all general safety, OSHA, USDA/APHIS, FDA and State of Texas regulations for position and facility operations.
  • Enforce security and food safety standards, policies and programs related to HACCP, and third-party standards, regulatory standards, food safety training programs, product inspections, and any work instructions.
  • Ensure compliance with the Quality & Food Safety Management System in accordance with relevant internal, external standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices by following GMP protocols.
  • Ensure compliance to Standard Operating Procedures to ensure consistency and safety.
  • Report on deviations on Food safety / Quality / Safety to the supervisor immediately.
  • Perform routine inspections as per standard requirements and timely data entry.
  • Maintain clean and hygienic work environment.
  • Participate in Food Safety, Safety and Quality related training.
