About The Position

This internship is open to undergraduate students seeking hands-on practical experience in construction. Interns assist project teams with managing construction projects through all phases, from bidding to final completion, and learn engineering and technical aspects of projects in both office and field settings. Depending on the assignment, work may be based in an office, at a jobsite, or a mix of both; relocation to remote sites may be required. Transportation is required. Work periods are 10–12 weeks at 40 hours per week. Housing may be provided in certain situations.

Requirements

• Undergraduate student interested in gaining hands-on practical experience in the construction field.
• Transportation is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with quantity take-offs and layout.
• Assist with preconstruction and as-built surveys.
• Review and approve shop drawings and submittals, and maintain their logs.
• Review and submit requests for information (RFIs), maintain RFI logs, and respond to subcontractor RFIs.
• Interface with subcontractors and suppliers.
• Attend weekly progress meetings.
• Assist in coordinating work among the owner, architect, and subcontractors.
• Assist during the bidding process.
• Review construction documents, specifications, revisions, and clarifications.
• Assist with maintaining field records.
• Assist with estimates, budgets, value engineering, and constructability surveys.
• Assist with writing contracts and purchase orders.
• Assist with preparing owner billings and submitting change orders.
• Assist with invoice approvals.
• Assist with ordering and expediting materials.
• Assist with scheduling and schedule updates.
• Assist with quality control and safety.
• Assist with settling contracts and the permit process.
• Assist with costing, scheduling, estimating, and project management.
• Assist with punch lists and project closeout.
• Cooperate and work with field project management.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
