About The Position

Our client, Waycon Manufacturing Ltd., is a leading industrial equipment and machinery manufacturer serving clients across North America. Known for delivering high-quality, custom-built solutions, they support a wide range of industries including mining, forestry, and automation from a two-acre facility equipped with advanced in-house machinery, state-of-the-art tooling, and modern engineering technology. Their capabilities span concept design, CNC machining, fabrication, welding, painting, assembly, and testing. They are seeking a Mechanical Draftsperson/Engineering Support professional to join their engineering team. This role will support the development of accurate, complete drawing packages for fabrication and machining projects while assisting with day-to-day engineering documentation and production support. Your work will move directly from drawing to shop floor, making this an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on manufacturing environments and collaborative problem solving. Waycon is open to candidates at different stages of their career. Experienced draftspersons with SolidWorks proficiency are strongly encouraged to apply; however, they will also consider motivated junior candidates who demonstrate strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn and grow within the role.

Requirements

  • Mechanical Engineering Technologist diploma or related education is considered an asset
  • Experience preparing technical drawings and documentation for manufacturing environments is preferred
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks or demonstrated ability to quickly learn technical drafting software
  • Familiarity with Excel, BOM management, and document management systems is an asset
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret engineering specifications
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate across engineering and production teams
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment
  • Strong work ethic, initiative, and interest in precision manufacturing

Responsibilities

  • Create, revise, and maintain detailed manufacturing drawings for machining and fabrication projects
  • Work closely with engineers to ensure designs are accurate, practical, and shop-ready
  • Prepare and maintain bills of materials (BOMs), production documentation, and revision records
  • Assist engineering and production teams with drawing updates, changes, and day-to-day documentation support
  • Ensure drawing and document control standards are consistently maintained
