About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead a talented, multi-faceted team of mechanical engineers, owning the strategic direction, design, and execution of our groundbreaking ION and DUO product lines. You will leverage your engineering expertise and leadership experience to create the tools that empower the next generation of innovators.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a mechanical engineering role, with a strong background in managing or leading a team of engineers.
  • Hands-on experience with FIRST® and its robotics programs.
  • Experience with hardware development lifecycles, from concept and prototyping to mass production.
  • Expertise in injection molded product design and familiarity with various manufacturing methods such as sintering and aluminum extrusion.
  • Proven experience with SolidWorks and/or OnShape.
  • Demonstrated experience managing global supply chain relationships and manufacturing in Asia.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical info to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with standard machine shop tools such as the lathe, mill, drill press, band saw, and hand tools.
  • Represent REV at various industry events.
  • Proficient with standard office software, communication platforms for email and chat, and cloud-based file storage.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of experience in an engineering management or lead role.
  • Basic electrical and software troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with designing for CNC machined prototypes.
  • Experience with 3D printers and designing printed prototypes.
  • Proficient with Google Workspace software (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Meet, and Chat).

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the mechanical engineering team, including performance reviews, professional development, and recruiting efforts.
  • Oversee the full product lifecycle from concept and innovation through manufacturing oversight.
  • Directly contribute to projects by performing 3D CAD modeling (SolidWorks or OnShape) for new products and assemblies.
  • Own and direct the mechanical product roadmap, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Conduct and facilitate design reviews to ensure design quality and rigorous application of GD&T principles and dimensional tolerance analysis (stack-up).
  • Manage relationships with overseas contract manufacturers (CMs) and oversee manufacturing processes in Asia.
  • Partner closely with Electrical and Software Engineering Managers to ensure seamless system integration and balance mechanical/electrical requirements.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Customer Success to provide product information, build guide instructions, application examples, documentation, and CAD model libraries.
  • Develop and implement testing procedures for new products and direct the design of fixtures for testing, calibration, and quality assurance (QA).
  • Manage and prioritize project resources, including personnel, equipment, and the maintenance of the internal machine shop.
  • Mentor and coach team members and interns, helping them develop their technical skills and careers through constructive feedback and performance reviews.
  • Other projects or responsibilities as the need arises.
