We are currently seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Mechanical Designer to join our team in Beauport, Quebec. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will contribute to the design, development, and continuous improvement of mechanical equipment in support of operations and innovation projects.

Requirements

  • College diploma (DEC) in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Significant experience in mechanical design within a manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (Creo, SolidWorks, Inventor, CATIA) and 2D tools (AutoCAD)
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (welded fabrication, machining, assembly)
  • Practical mindset and strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong customer service orientation
  • Ability to interact with clients and manage testing in real-world conditions (FAT)
  • Strong attention to detail, rigor, and structured work approach
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
  • Advanced English (communication with international clients)

  • Technical aptitude and ability to lead and manage client interactions

Responsibilities

  • Design and adapt mechanical subassemblies (CAD) for custom equipment, ensuring performance, reliability, and manufacturability
  • Produce complete technical drawings (parts, assemblies, piping, pneumatic systems, manufacturing and installation drawings)
  • Collaborate with suppliers to select components that meet technical and quality requirements
  • Support production and actively contribute to the rapid resolution of technical issues
  • Prepare clear and structured documentation for manufacturing, assembly, and customers
  • Act as a lead during Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT): Welcome clients and represent STERIS with professionalism, Execute test protocols with rigor and transparency, Ensure a high-level client experience that is proactive and solution-oriented
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams (electrical, automation, project teams)
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of design and manufacturing processes (Lean / Shingo)
