Requirements

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Design, Drafting, or a related technical discipline.
  • Expert-level proficiency with SolidWorks.
  • Substantial experience with design for manufacturability (DFM).
  • Experience creating detailed fabrication drawings and manufacturing documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and technical documentation skills.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Successful drug screening.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security or clearance badge.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting Department of Energy (DOE), nuclear, national laboratory, or other highly regulated environments.
  • Experience designing custom mechanical equipment for industrial or process applications.
  • High-temperature system design experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with GD&T, manufacturing processes, and machining/fabrication techniques.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance, if required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed mechanical designs and 3D models using SolidWorks.
  • Create fabrication drawings, assemblies, bills of materials (BOMs), and technical documentation.
  • Apply design for manufacturability (DFM) principles to optimize designs for fabrication, assembly, and cost efficiency.
  • Collaborate with engineers, fabricators, and multidisciplinary teams to develop custom mechanical equipment solutions.
  • Support prototype development, fabrication, testing, and design modifications.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable engineering standards, DOE requirements, and industry best practices.
