About The Position

Wagstaff manufactures equipment for aluminum producers, who process formed aluminum into parts and products you use every day. As a Mechanical Designer, you will apply mechanical design knowledge to the design development and production of Wagstaff casting equipment. You will become familiar with Wagstaff equipment, associated design criteria, design tools, and business software with respect to a limited number of products/areas of standard complexity. You will create design documents necessary for equipment production according to documented design procedures and as directed by the responsible Engineer(s), and update and revise mechanical drawings per instructions from design reviews, redlines, NPR tags, etc. You will also prepare and release design documents to Manufacturing, become proficient at estimating hours to complete design tasks, and meeting goals with respect to planned hours and production schedule. Interfacing with Purchasing, Demand Management, and shop floor personnel will be required to effectively design and support the manufacturer of equipment. You will also keep equipment and work area clean and orderly, abide by company policies, and may be required to work weeks in excess of 40 hours to achieve business objectives. Additionally, you may train other team members in support of basic departmental processes and equipment design methods, and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • AA or AS Degree in Engineering Technological field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with SolidWorks highly preferred.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
