About The Position

EXP is hiring a Mechanical Designer to join the Mechanical team in its Orlando, Florida office. The role supports HVAC design projects in the hospitality, federal, entertainment, and healthcare sectors. The designer uses Revit and other industry software to develop and coordinate HVAC designs, select and schedule equipment with senior-staff oversight, and support renovation projects through field verification and system take-offs. The position also involves coordination with other disciplines, maintaining engineering calculations, and managing design work within planned project hours.

Requirements

One to three years of experience designing HVAC systems for hospitality, entertainment, and healthcare projects.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering specializing in HVAC or mechanical engineering.
Revit experience.
Good written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

EIT certification is desired.

Responsibilities

Perform hands-on CAD work using the Revit platform.
Conduct 3D coordination and clash detection.
Perform heating and cooling load calculations using Trace or other load-calculation software.
Select and schedule equipment with oversight from senior staff.
Lay out air- and water-side systems on working drawings.
Use fan and pump curves to select equipment for the application.
Communicate with equipment vendors to determine product application requirements.
Perform field verification and take-offs of existing systems for renovation projects.
Coordinate HVAC details with other disciplines, including MEP, fire protection, architecture, and structural teams.
Maintain engineering calculations for projects.
Understand work planning and manage the design process within the hours available in the work plan.
Understand constant- and variable-flow systems and apply equipment appropriately.
