About The Position

REAMCO LLC is seeking a motivated and experienced Mechanical Designer to join our engineering and design team in Childersburg, Alabama. This position is responsible for developing detailed mechanical designs, 3D models, fabrication drawings, and engineering documentation for manufacturing and project applications. The ideal candidate has practical mechanical design experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to take projects from initial concepts through completed fabrication and installation documentation.

Requirements

  • Associate degree, technical degree, or equivalent experience in Mechanical Design, Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of relevant mechanical design or drafting experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical components, fabrication methods, and manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency with 2D/3D CAD software.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Working knowledge of dimensions, tolerances, and GD&T.
  • Strong mathematical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented manufacturing/engineering environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing equipment, machinery, fabricated assemblies, or industrial systems.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
  • Experience with sheet metal, structural steel, piping, machining, or welded assemblies.
  • Experience creating bills of materials and fabrication packages.
  • Familiarity with engineering standards and applicable industry codes.
  • Experience working directly with fabrication and production personnel.
  • Experience with [AutoCAD / SolidWorks / Inventor / Solid Edge / other CAD software].

Responsibilities

  • Create and modify detailed mechanical designs, assemblies, and components.
  • Develop accurate 2D drawings and 3D models for fabrication and manufacturing.
  • Prepare fabrication, assembly, installation, and detail drawings.
  • Interpret engineering specifications, sketches, measurements, and customer requirements.
  • Apply standard mechanical design principles, GD&T, tolerances, and drafting practices.
  • Select and apply appropriate materials, hardware, components, and manufacturing methods.
  • Work closely with engineers, fabricators, machinists, project managers, and other team members.
  • Review designs for accuracy, manufacturability, fit, function, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Make design revisions based on engineering changes, field measurements, fabrication feedback, and customer requirements.
  • Maintain organized drawing files, models, revisions, bills of materials, and other engineering documentation.
  • Assist with field measurements and site visits when required.
  • Support troubleshooting and design improvements for existing equipment and systems.
  • Participate in design reviews and project meetings.
  • Maintain schedules and communicate project status, issues, and potential delays.
  • Follow company safety, quality, and documentation procedures.
