As a Mechanical Designer, you will play a key role in supporting the daily operations of Storyteller’s Design and Engineering Team. You’ll take full ownership of design challenges, driving them to resolution with innovation and precision, while maintaining a strong commitment to quality and functionality. Requirements

Solidworks design experience
general understanding of drafting standards
comfortable with Solidworks Weldments and Sheet Metal functions
familiar with sheet metal manufacturing “best practices”
MS Office or G Suite familiarity

2+ years Solidworks modeling including sheet metal and weldments
2+ years Solidworks drafting experience
Familiarity with MS Office and G Suite
Prior experience working in or around manufacturing
Proven track record of working in a fast-paced, high-stress position that requires high levels of attention to detail

Nice To Haves

Associates degree or certificate in drafting is preferred
Solidworks certifications CSWE, CSWP, or CSWA are preferred

Responsibilities

Create, modify, and maintain detailed SolidWorks part, drawing, and assembly files to support project requirements and production needs.
Collaborate with design and engineering teams to model and develop vehicle components, prototypes, and production support equipment.
Develop manufacturing and inspection (QC) prints for both new and existing parts, ensuring clarity and accuracy for production teams.
Maintain and organize file and folder structures, managing updates, revisions, and model year changes to ensure efficient document control.
Track and manage revisions for supplier and vendor parts, ensuring accurate records and seamless communication with external partners.
Input and maintain part, assembly, and drawing data for the vehicle Bill of Materials (BOM) to ensure alignment with production requirements.
Reverse engineer supplier parts to generate CAD data when required, ensuring compatibility with existing designs and production processes.
Support research and development (R&D) initiatives by assisting with vehicle assembly and testing as needed.
Identify opportunities to improve design processes and implement best practices to enhance overall efficiency and quality.
Participate in cross-functional meetings and contribute insights to support the development of innovative and manufacturable designs.
Contribute to the success of the design and engineering team by fostering a collaborative, cooperative, and supportive team environment.
Perform other duties as assigned, maintaining flexibility and adaptability to support team and organizational goals.
