As a Mechanical Designer, you will play a key role in supporting the daily operations of Storyteller’s Design and Engineering Team. You’ll take full ownership of design challenges, driving them to resolution with innovation and precision, while maintaining a strong commitment to quality and functionality. Requirements

  • Solidworks design experience
  • general understanding of drafting standards
  • comfortable with Solidworks Weldments and Sheet Metal functions
  • familiar with sheet metal manufacturing “best practices”
  • MS Office or G Suite familiarity

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree or certificate in drafting is preferred
  • Solidworks certifications CSWE, CSWP, or CSWA are preferred

Responsibilities

  • Create, modify, and maintain detailed SolidWorks part, drawing, and assembly files to support project requirements and production needs.
  • Collaborate with design and engineering teams to model and develop vehicle components, prototypes, and production support equipment.
  • Develop manufacturing and inspection (QC) prints for both new and existing parts, ensuring clarity and accuracy for production teams.
  • Maintain and organize file and folder structures, managing updates, revisions, and model year changes to ensure efficient document control.
  • Track and manage revisions for supplier and vendor parts, ensuring accurate records and seamless communication with external partners.
  • Input and maintain part, assembly, and drawing data for the vehicle Bill of Materials (BOM) to ensure alignment with production requirements.
  • Reverse engineer supplier parts to generate CAD data when required, ensuring compatibility with existing designs and production processes.
  • Support research and development (R&D) initiatives by assisting with vehicle assembly and testing as needed.
  • Identify opportunities to improve design processes and implement best practices to enhance overall efficiency and quality.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings and contribute insights to support the development of innovative and manufacturable designs.
  • Contribute to the success of the design and engineering team by fostering a collaborative, cooperative, and supportive team environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, maintaining flexibility and adaptability to support team and organizational goals.
