About The Position

The mechanical designer will be engineering design for new or revised products. They will meet established customer requirements and schedules and assist in the execution of all documentation, release, production and service follow-up of assigned new or revised products. This design team supports our commercial customers, products specifically for sports fields and grounds.

Requirements

  • Designer I: Graduate of an accredited technical school for design and drafting (two-year course) combined with a minimum of 0-2 years of experience in the mechanical drafting field.
  • Designer II: Graduate of an accredited technical school for design and drafting (two-year course) combined with a minimum of 2-4 years of experience in the mechanical drafting field.
  • OR: Graduate of an accredited university or college with a Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering related technology (ex. Automotive, Manufacturing, Design, Electrical, Mechanical.)
  • Technical ability in math and mechanics preferable.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently accomplish duties & responsibilities as listed.
  • A comprehensive understanding in the mechanical drafting field.

Responsibilities

  • Create designs and design layouts for new products, concepts, or improvements to existing products.
  • Work with a team led by a design engineer, to tackle design problems at different timescales. From daily quick fixes to long-term redesign efforts.
  • Ensure engineering design for new products and improved products meet market, safety, quality, performance, reliability, durability requirements of the customer.
  • Prepare design layouts and coordinate designs with others assigned to the project to ensure integration of the design.
  • Responsible for basic design calculations and measurements.
  • Leverage assistance of internal specialists i.e. CAE analysis support engineers, manufacturing engineers, and/or vendor experts for design input.
  • Support team design, safety, cost and manufacturing reviews.
  • Ensure that all parts designed can be manufactured with processes available to the relevant vendor.
  • Accurate tolerancing of all components and assemblies.
  • Coordinate the release of parts for both prototype and final production.
  • Work with design engineers, manufacturing engineers, test engineers and others to determine changes which are needed to meet customer and compliance requirements.
  • CADD utilized as necessary to do project related work. Preferably Creo.
  • Keep supervisor informed of project status and issues that may require assistance.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as may be requested
