About The Position

The Manufacturing Engineer I is a critical entry-level role responsible for driving manufacturing engineering projects and providing essential technical support to the Shakopee plant. This position focuses on improving process capability, enhancing operational efficiency, and ensuring the seamless introduction of new products and processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical or equivalent).
  • Relevant manufacturing experiences or skills related to a high-pace production environment.
  • 2+ years of manufacturing experience in metal fabrication, machining, or assembly & finishing.
  • Proficiency with 2D/3D CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks or Creo).
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and familiarity with 3D models.
  • Working knowledge of advanced manufacturing principles, including FMEA, DFMA, 5S, Six Sigma, PFEP, and Lean.
  • Experience with ERP and MES software.
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office applications.
  • Demonstrated project management experience, excellent communication/interpersonal skills, and a strong analytical, problem-solving, and continuous improvement mindset.

  • Successful completion of a TTC Internship or comparable relevant work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze operational constraints to drive equipment productivity, improve process capability, and reduce downtime to increase overall plant capacity.
  • Engage in daily production tier meetings and use analytical methods to identify and implement solutions for problems that adversely affect quality, productivity, safety, and cost.
  • Develop, update, and maintain comprehensive documentation for manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Provide mentoring and training to machine operators.
  • Develop programs using vendor software as required, for example automated sheet metal laser cutting and press brake equipment.
  • Prepare capital equipment requests (IARs), coordinating the investigation, selection, installation, prove-out, and training necessary to successfully integrate new equipment.
  • Complete cost estimation, generate Request for Quotations (RFQs), update Bills of Material (BOMs) and routings, and manage other Engineering Change Management (ECM) activities and CAD drawing maintenance.
  • Provide thorough cost data analysis to Engineering, Sourcing, and Finance for use in project direction, product pricing, budgeting, and return on investment (ROI) calculations.
  • Act as the primary interface to Design Engineering, providing critical manufacturing input on process capability, materials utilization, and design alternatives (DFMA) to optimize product value.
  • Ensure the timely and effective introduction of new parts.
  • Review and evaluate the sourcing of production parts, recommending alternate sourcing strategies when appropriate.
