About The Position

EXP is seeking a Mechanical Designer/Engineer to join their Mechanical team for Hospitality HVAC Design projects. This role will be based in either the Miami (Coral Gables) or Fort Lauderdale, FL office. The position involves performing hands-on CAD work, conducting load calculations, selecting and scheduling equipment, and coordinating with other disciplines. The ideal candidate will have experience in designing HVAC systems for various building types or be a recent graduate with relevant internship experience. A Bachelor's degree in HVAC/Mechanical Engineering is required, along with familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit MEP. Requirements

  • 4+ years in designing HVAC systems for Aviation, Transit and Commercial Building projects or recent graduate with internship experience in the HVAC field for construction projects, including HVAC, piping, and plumbing.
  • An Engineering Bachelor’s degree specializing in HVAC/Mechanical Engineering
  • Auto CAD, REVIT MEP familiar
  • Good Written and verbal communication

Nice To Haves

  • EIT Certification is desired working towards PE.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hands-on CAD using AutoCAD MEP and/or Revit platforms
  • Perform heating and cooling load calculations with industry software (Trace, Energy Pro, DOE)
  • Select and schedule equipment with oversight by senior staff
  • Layout air and water side systems on working drawings
  • Understand fan and pump curves to properly select equipment for application
  • Communicate with equipment vendors to determine requirements for applying products
  • Perform field verification and take-offs of existing systems for renovation projects
  • Coordinate with other disciplines (mep, fp, arch, struct, etc) for HVAC details
  • Maintain the Engineering Calculation Book for projects
  • Understand work planning and manage design process to the available hours in work plan
  • Understand both constant and variable flow systems, and properly apply equipment
