About The Position

Build the Future with Us — Join WSP’s Property & Buildings team and contribute to the design of mechanical systems that support safe, efficient, and high‑performing buildings across a wide range of projects. This role is well suited for early‑career Mechanical Designers who are eager to grow their technical skills through hands‑on design, modeling, and site involvement. You’ll support HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and building automation systems while working closely with experienced engineers and designers in a collaborative consulting environment.

Requirements

  • Mechanical Engineering Degree or Diploma from an accredited institution.
  • 1–4 years of related mechanical design or drafting experience (co‑op or internship experience considered).
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Foundational understanding of applicable building codes and standards.
  • Ability to work independently under general supervision while contributing effectively within a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Basic proficiency with technical documentation, spreadsheets, and office software (advanced Excel skills are an asset).
  • An enthusiastic, eager‑to‑learn mindset with a collaborative, team‑oriented approach.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare mechanical drawings and models using AutoCAD and Revit to support project design delivery.
  • Assist senior team members in developing coordinated drawing packages and design documentation.
  • Support the design of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and building automation systems.
  • Perform building heating, ventilation, and cooling load calculations.
  • Complete engineering calculations using a variety of design software and tools.
  • Participate in site visits to assess existing conditions and observe construction progress.
  • Coordinate with internal project teams, architects, engineers, and external vendors to support project execution.
  • Support construction administration activities, including drawing reviews and field coordination.
