Idaho National Laboratory needs a Mechanical Design & Reliability Engineering Manager to develop and execute transformative operational strategies that directly fuel America's energy leadership and next-generation technological breakthroughs, with work shaping policies and practices that advance nuclear innovation, national security, and energy solutions continuing a legacy of scientific excellence. You'll manage activities of a department or discipline through subordinate supervisors and professionals, provide guidance to your team within the latitude of established company policies, be responsible for effective operation of activities of major significance to the organization with decisions impacting others in the immediate team and influencing methods and techniques, and execute financials, business planning, organizational priorities, and workforce planning. Your responsibilities include ensuring budgets, schedules, and performance standards are realistically set and attained, typically managing employees who perform similar tasks potentially including supervisors and exempt and non-exempt staff, receiving objective-based assignments and determining resources to meet schedules and goals, being responsible for a single function, location, and technical discipline, recommending changes to policies and establishing procedures affecting the department or multiple disciplines, helping develop overall and long-term goals, working with subordinate supervisors and customers on matters between sections, partnering with contacts outside own area of expertise, and communicating results across disciplines.
