About The Position

Westinghouse is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineering I to join their innovative team. This role involves designing mechanical systems and components for both the traditional nuclear market and new projects focused on developing nuclear technology and future nuclear-powered systems. The position is based in Burlington, Kitchener, or Peterborough, Ontario, and is a hybrid role requiring two days per week onsite.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• 0 to 2 minimum years of relevant experience, recent new graduates without experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Develop 3D models, detailed manufacturing drawings, and bills of materials for complex electro-mechanical first-of-a-kind tooling.
• Assemble and test custom equipment through its design evolution from prototype to finished product.
• Help develop test procedures for systems to ensure compliance with design specifications.
• Help operate the final tooling system in customer facilities.
• Provide technical oversight and mentoring to more junior members of the Engineering team.
• Perform classical hand calculations and analysis (including FEA) to qualify systems and/or components against applicable codes & standards.
• Prepare clear and concise design reports and technical specifications.
