About The Position

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineering Department Manager 3. This position will be located in Roy, UT. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package. The role provides oversight and assistance to multiple programs within the Division portfolio (Sentinel GBSD and ICBM Sustainment), ensuring the availability of people, skills, and processes for successful achievement of program goals. It also provides enabling support for all business areas within the SDS portfolio, including the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production, and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM), Launch Facilities, and associated infrastructure. The position involves analyzing the current release process, identifying gaps, and implementing resolutions to ensure the throughput of PDP releases at design review milestones. A key responsibility is to own and lead improvements across the design department for employee engagement, hiring, development, training, attraction, and retention of top talent. The manager will mentor, develop, and train section managers and the overall employee base. Additionally, the role supports proposal work, independent technical reviews, program stand-up, audits, and special assignments as needed. The manager is responsible for creating and managing high-performing teams while providing technical, administrative, and management expertise in the day-to-day activities required to successfully execute complex engineering programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 8 years of experience; 6 years with Master’s.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance with a reinvestigation date occurring in the last 6 years.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP).
  • Must have the ability to obtain Top Secret Clearance.
  • At least 1 year of experience working in the Aerospace and or the Defense field.
  • 3 years of experience as CAM and or EVMS.
  • Excellent communication, mentoring, interpersonal skills, and the ability to collaborate with senior management, peers, and employees.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working on ICBMs.
  • Understanding and proven experience leading Sustainment technical scope of work
  • Active TS Clearance, program access.
  • Familiarity with Agile engineering and Jira.
  • Experience managing an engineering team is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years in a formal lead/ management position.
  • Experience creating or growing new sections or departments.
  • Working knowledge and/or experience across engineering disciplines.
  • General understanding of Northrop Grumman engineering processes.
  • Proven performance as an engineering leader in all phases of acquisition, design, integration, and execution.
  • Ability to rapidly assess and lend guidance to projects assigned to the organizational group as well as demonstrated mentoring and guidance to engineers.
