About The Position

Arista Networks is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with a strong focus on tooling design and a passion for developing manufacturing focused solutions that enable high volume production. In this role, you will collaborate closely with Engineering, Platform Design, Contract Manufacturing (CM) partners, and cross functional teams to design and develop tooling, test fixtures, and jigs that support scalable, high throughout manufacturing environments. This role is deeply integrated with early stage product development, ensuring manufacturability and production success at scale. Precision, innovation, and proactive design collaboration are core to how we operate. This role emphasizes engineering innovation and early design influence—not factory floor production support. You will own the mechanical design process from concept development through CAD modeling, documentation, vendor engagement, and pilot build support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or master’s degree in mechanical engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Mechanical NPI Engineer and/or Mechanical Design Engineer, including deep expertise in DFM for prototype and production.
  • Proven working knowledge of PLM and a strong command of ECO/MCO/DEV/PCN processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to debug and troubleshoot electromechanical systems, perform failure and root cause analysis, and apply structured problem solving methodologies such as 8D.
  • Exceptional leadership and mentoring capabilities, with strong problem solving skills and a track record of effective cross functional collaboration and clear communication.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Agile PLM or Windchill PDMLink is a plus.
  • 1–3 years of hands-on experience scaling and implementing liquid cooling thermal solutions across board level through facility level applications. This includes cold plates, fittings, tubing and hose terminations, leak detection technologies, and system level cooling hardware such as CDUs and AALCs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the end to end design, development, and validation of custom tooling and fixtures that support New Product Introduction (NPI) and high volume electronics manufacturing.
  • Engineer, design, and validate custom tooling, test fixtures, and jigs for high volume production.
  • Translate mechanical and process requirements into CAD models, detailed drawings, and documentation.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide DFM/DFT feedback for new products.
  • Collaborate closely with Hardware Engineering, Platform Design, Reliability Engineering, and CM partners.
  • Select and specify manufacturing processes (CNC machining, injection molding, sheet metal, coatings) for tooling applications.
  • Perform tolerance stackup analysis for complex mechanical assemblies.
  • Work with overseas CMs and vendors to support tool release, prototyping, and pilot builds.
  • Research and recommend new manufacturing technologies to improve tooling quality and cost effectiveness.
  • Create and manage BOMs, ECOs, and revision histories.
