About The Position

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the design and development of medical devices from concept to production. You’ll work on complex systems that require innovative engineering solutions and have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure regulatory compliance and product excellence.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in mechanical design, specifically in the medical device industry.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks (2012 or newer) and AutoCAD.
  • Experience with stress analysis, FEA, and mechanical simulations.
  • Strong knowledge of FDA regulations, ISO 13485, and DFMEA.
  • Experience with injection molding, plastics, and machining.
  • Leadership experience, including mentoring and managing junior engineers.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a focus on root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with disposable medical devices is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Design Projects: Responsible for working on the design of medical devices, ensuring functionality, safety, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Troubleshoot & Problem-Solve: Analyze design issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
  • CAD Design: Create 3D models and engineering drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD for complex assemblies, components, and systems.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with regulatory, quality, and manufacturing teams to meet FDA and ISO 13485 requirements.
  • Mentor & Lead: Guide junior engineers through projects, offering mentorship, training, and support to foster a collaborative team environment.
  • Conduct Stress Analysis: Use FEA and other simulation tools to validate designs for performance, reliability, and compliance with medical device standards.
  • Design for Manufacturability: Ensure designs are optimized for cost-effective and efficient manufacturing.
