About The Position

We are seeking a motivated entry level Mechanical Design Engineer to support the design, development, and integration of aircraft nacelle components and systems. The ideal candidate will contribute to concept development, detailed design, analysis coordination, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure nacelle structures meet performance, manufacturability, cost, and certification requirements. This role will be onsite, in Chula Vista, California. This role may be eligible for relocation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) obtained prior to start.
  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or granted refugee or asylee status) as defined here: https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-22/chapter-I/subchapter-M/part-120/subpart-C/section-120.62 .
  • Familiarity with nacelle systems, propulsion integration, or aerospace component design.
  • Experience with 3D CAD tools (CATIA V5/V6 preferred; SolidWorks or NX acceptable).
  • Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Internship or academic project experience in aircraft structures, composites, or mechanisms.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and basic aerospace specifications.
  • Experience with PLM systems (Teamcenter, Enovia, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Support the creation and release of 3D models and engineering drawings for nacelle components (e.g., fan cowls, thrust reversers, inlet structures, engine interfaces).
  • Work collaboratively with senior engineers to develop design concepts and evaluate tradeoffs related to materials, structural performance, aerodynamics, and manufacturing constraints.
  • Perform tolerance analysis, interface evaluations, and basic structural layout assessments under guidance.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing, supply chain, stress analysis, systems engineering, and configuration management.
  • Incorporate industry standards, customer specifications, and internal design best practices into all work products.
  • Participate in design reviews, root-cause analysis, and product improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with configuration control, engineering change requests, and documentation required for certification and program deliverables.
