About The Position

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design and development of advanced thermal management and industrial cooling solutions. In this role, you will be responsible for taking cooling architecture ranging from HVAC systems to closed-loop water systems from concept through commissioning. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in mechanical design, fluid flow, thermal dynamics, and compliance with ASME B31 piping codes, alongside strong proficiency in SolidWorks. Key Focus: Design, analyze, and optimize industrial cooling loops, HVAC systems, and thermal machinery to meet performance and safety standards.

Requirements

  • Has a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or a related engineering field.
  • Has 5+ years of professional experience in mechanical design engineering.
  • Can demonstrate a proven track record designing industrial cooling systems, HVAC systems, or liquid cooling loops (e.g., pumps, chillers, heat exchangers, manifolds).
  • Possesses expert-level 3D CAD design and drawing creation using SolidWorks.
  • Possesses active Engineer in Training (EIT) / Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification.
  • Has strong practical understanding and working knowledge of ASME B31 piping design codes.
  • Can demonstrate a strong understanding of fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and thermodynamics.
  • Possesses a practical knowledge of manufacturing processes (welding, sheet metal, machining, pipe fitting).
  • Demonstrates high attention to detail with excellent communication and problem solving skills.
  • Is able to manage multiple project deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in thermal systems engineering or industrial fluid processing.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain.
  • PE license in HVAC and Refrigeration or Thermal Fluid Systems is preferred.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks PDM for revision control, workflow management, and engineering document organization.
  • Hands-on experience performing FEA (SolidWorks Simulation or ANSYS Mechanical)
  • Hands-on experience performing CFD (ANSYS Fluent or similar)
  • Hands-on experience performing Process Simulation (ProMax or similar)

Responsibilities

  • Designing complete industrial cooling systems, HVAC equipment, and liquid cooling loops (water/glycol) using SolidWorks.
  • Applying ASME B31 codes (e.g., B31.1, B31.3, B31.5) and industry standards to ensure piping, valving, pressure vessels, and fluid delivery systems meet regulatory and safety requirements.
  • Performing thermal, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and pressure drop calculations to size pumps, chillers, heat exchangers, and piping.
  • Generating detailed 3D models, fabrication drawings, Bill of Materials (BOMs), piping schematics (P&IDs), and assembly instructions.
  • Partnering with controls teams, manufacturing, and procurement to bring designs from concept to manufacturing and commissioning.
  • Reporting to Lead Mechanical Design Engineer
