About The Position

Teledyne FLIR Defense is seeking a hands-on mechanical engineer to join the Surveillance Systems Division in Orlando, FL. This role involves collaborating with a diverse, multi-location team on high-performance imaging and laser systems. The position requires hands-on technical expertise in the design, analysis, and testing of opto-mechanical systems.

Requirements

• At least 5 years’ experience with the design, test and/or analysis of opto-mechanical parts and assemblies.
• BS in Mechanical Engineering.
• Designing with a solid modeling CAD program (SolidWorks and EPDM a plus).
• Ability to apply principles, theories, and concepts within the mechanical engineering field and good knowledge of other related disciplines.
• Demonstrated experience in working within a multi-disciplinary team in a fast-paced, technically challenging environment.
• Applicants must be either a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, legal permanent resident, asylee, refugee or must be eligible to apply for and obtain the appropriate export control license from the U.S. Departments of State or Commerce.

Nice To Haves

• Experience aligning or designing alignment tooling for Optical Systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and testing of complex opto-mechanical mechanisms and optical systems.
• Support the alignment of optical components and subsystems.
• Geometric Tolerancing per ANSI/ASME Y14.5M.
• Responsible for the mechanical specifications and planning related to electro-optical system design and testing.
• Effective communication among cross-discipline teams located in multiple sites.
