About The Position

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the development and improvement of power protection equipment, including switchboards, Power Distribution Units (PDUs), and power panels. This hands-on role combines mechanical design, prototyping, documentation, testing, and cross-functional collaboration. This position offers the opportunity to work directly on the mechanical design and development of electrical power equipment, from initial concepts and prototypes through product optimization and ongoing engineering support.

Requirements

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a similar discipline.
• 2+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Collaborative, solution-focused approach with the ability to contribute effectively within a team environment.
• Strong workload management and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of power protection equipment and the data center market.
• Ability to interpret and apply electrical safety standards, including UL and IEC, to product designs.
• 2+ years of experience with SolidWorks CAD design software, including thermal and structural evaluation.
• Experience with PLM software.
• Knowledge of sheet metal design, detail part drawings, assembly drawings, and Design for Manufacturing (DFM).
• Experience with test fixtures and fixture design.
• Familiarity with switchboards, Power Distribution Units (PDUs), UL 891, and UL 508 panels.
• Technical writing experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical designs and documentation for new and enhanced power protection equipment.
• Work with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality designs that meet customer and project requirements.
• Participate in design reviews and verification activities, incorporating feedback and making design improvements.
• Design and release mechanical prototypes, support fabrication, and lead improvements based on prototype results.
• Independently lead smaller engineering projects and coordinate activities required to meet project requirements.
• Collaborate with Production, Supply Chain, Service, and other business functions to ensure product designs support operational needs.
• Support product customization, lifecycle management, ECN, and product optimization activities.
