About The Position

The Mechanical Design Engineer I supports the design, development, and documentation of mechanical components and assemblies used in semiconductor equipment or facility‑related systems. Working under guidance from senior engineers, this role creates models, drawings, and design updates, performs basic engineering analyses, and supports prototype builds and testing. The Engineer I contributes to reliable, manufacturable, and cost‑effective designs through disciplined execution and collaboration with cross‑functional teams.

Requirements

  • Foundational knowledge of mechanical design concepts, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, NX, Inventor).
  • Ability to read and create engineering drawings and apply GD&T fundamentals.
  • Strong problem‑solving, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to follow engineering procedures and work under guidance in a technical environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Internship or project experience in mechanical design, equipment design, or precision manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor equipment, vacuum systems, motion systems, or gas/fluid subsystems.
  • Exposure to tolerance analysis, simple stress/thermal checks, or prototyping methods.
  • Experience with PLM/ERP systems, ECO processes, or basic engineering analysis tools.
  • Demonstrated teamwork capability in multidisciplinary engineering settings.
  • Coursework or training in CAD, machine design, materials, or manufacturing processes.
  • Certifications in CAD platforms (SolidWorks, Creo, etc.).
  • Cleanroom or semiconductor equipment training (if applicable to the site).

Responsibilities

  • Create 3D models, engineering drawings, and part/assembly documentation using CAD tools.
  • Assist in designing mechanical components, brackets, frames, enclosures, fluid/gas handling systems, or tooling.
  • Review and update drawings and BOMs; ensure design accuracy, version control, and change documentation (ECO/ECN).
  • Perform basic engineering analyses (tolerance stackups, material selection, fit/function reviews) under supervision.
  • Support prototype builds, test setups, and validation activities; document findings for engineering review.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to troubleshoot design issues and evaluate improvement options.
  • Support design‑for‑manufacturability (DFM) and design‑for‑assembly (DFA) discussions with Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Maintain technical documentation, specifications, and design records in PLM/ERP systems.
  • Interface with suppliers for basic inquiries, sample reviews, or drawing clarifications.
  • Follow engineering standards, safety guidelines, and quality procedures in all design activities.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance design efficiency, accuracy, and quality.
