About The Position

Vortex is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to apply sound engineering principles to evaluate designs, identify critical components, and perform calculations to ensure products meet specifications, function properly, and remain reliable. This role involves reviewing valves, accessories, and applications for compatibility, determining the best technical approach for customer orders, and managing workload to support on-time delivery. The engineer will create and review engineering documentation using standard drafting practices, apply knowledge of manufacturing processes to bills of materials, and communicate effectively with internal teams. Responsibilities also include developing technical documentation, providing technical support through troubleshooting (including occasional on-site visits), and supporting multiple product lines.

Requirements

  • Proficient in AutoCAD
  • Proficient in SolidWorks
  • Basic electrical knowledge
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Good problem-solving ability
  • Ability to interact with people
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks with limited supervision
  • Authorized to work in the United States

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
  • Equivalent 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment

Responsibilities

  • Apply sound engineering principles to evaluate designs, identify critical components, and perform calculations that ensure products meet specifications, function properly, and remain reliable.
  • Review valves, accessories, and applications to confirm compatibility and support successful project outcomes.
  • Determine the best technical approach to complete customer orders efficiently and accurately.
  • Manage and prioritize workload to support on-time delivery of parts, drawings, and technical information—working with other team members as needed to keep things moving.
  • Use standard drafting practices to create and review clear, accurate engineering documentation.
  • Apply knowledge of manufacturing processes when developing and maintaining bills of materials.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, while working closely with sales, manufacturing, and other internal teams.
  • Develop technical documentation such as instruction manuals, technical bulletins, and support materials.
  • Provide technical support through troubleshooting, including remote assistance and occasional on-site visits.
  • Support multiple product lines from a technical standpoint, balancing priorities while maintaining accuracy and quality.
